In Memoriam

Ralph Nelson Speers
1934 - 2005

My father-in-law passed away on the 15th of April 2005. It was a shock when I found out although I had been expecting it down inside. He had been diagnosed with cancer and had been going to Tulsa for treatments.

I wanted to share some thoughts about him and about life in general. I only knew him for a relatively short time, about six years. When I married my wife he was getting hooked up with her mother. He and Ann had been childhood friends and sweethearts who got back together late in life. Good on them!

Spent many happy times up in the country at their place. Lots of good fishing on the farm ponds and hunting in the pastures and woods.

Ralph was a genuinely kind person who made you feel liked and at home. He always had a hearty greeting and a hug or a handshake. He took my son as his own grandson, made him feel loved, gave him the seeds of a life as an outdoorsman.

Ralph, wherever you are I thank you for your kindness and wish all the best in your future.
